inSPIRATION

California inspired me in multiple ways. Firstly the interior design was beautiful, it was fresh, clean and introduced fantastic fabrics and textures while still managing to retain that homely feel. As I always mention how True Life Designs isn’t only about interiors this is a perfect example to share other ways this beautiful state inspired me. I’m not talking about the celebrity status of the Hollywood hills or the stunning scenes as you drive along the oceans as these are not things you can easily bring back home with you. The food! (of course). I was lucky enough to find Malibu Farm Kitchens which sits on the peer which you can see in the photo above. They have this wonderful eating culture there where they believe that its not all about fat free but good quality. Eating what you want as long as the food is good honest food.

By digging a little deeper into Malibu farm I then came across One Gun Ranch, which is biodynamic! This got my researching deep into the night of how can I bring a bit of California inspiration back to my garden. i’m currently in to the process of growing my Christmas vegetables, with a mixture of sprouts, cabbage, carrots and potatoes all growing away nicely and building a plan of how to turn the simple garden into something biodynamic for the most novice of gardeners. Once I have done a full year I will share my findings, of course you can follow along with my journey on instagram.

The finall bit of inspiration was Alcatraz in San Francisco or should I say Escape From Alcatraz! Yes people are crazy enough to attempt that shark infested swim. Well anything Clint Eastwood can do… The Escape from Alcatraz is firmly inscribed in my bucket list!
